BRITISH NORTH AMERICANS (CANADIANS) Biography

Walter W Jones

Dear Pvt.Church:

I am trying to find information on a Walter W.Jones from Woodstock, Ont. who fought in the Civil War.

He was born in Woodstock , Ont. in approximately 1836. His parents were Walter and Ann Jones from England. I have a report that he fired the first shot at Fort Sumter, but this does not seem to be right. I do not know whether he was a Union or Confederate soldier. He was not a relative but attended a grammar school here around 1845 that I am making a book on. His father was a blacksmith.

I will appreciate any information you may be able to send me on Walter W.Jones.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Linnell.

I would be very interested in any other Biographies, names or any other information on Canadians in the Civil War or the 2nd Mich. Vol. Inf. I can be contacted at mich2inf@lycosmail.com

If you know of any other British North Americans (Canadians) please advise me.
