BRITISH NORTH AMERICANS (CANADIANS) Biography

Johnson, Francis

Francis Johnson, was born in Norwich township, Oxford county, Ontario in 1846

He enlisted in Company "K" of the 26th. U.S. Colored Infantry (U.S.C.T.) , in 1864 at the age of 18yrs.

His Unit was stationed at Beaufort, S.C. He was discharged in 1865 at Harts Island in New York harbor.

He returned home to Canada and stayed there until 1868 at which time he moved to Lapeer, MI. USA

I feel he would have wanted to have been recognized by his country (Canada) for his contribution to freedom and justice, therefore feel free to contact me for any further information required to have his name recorded with his countrymen. Thank you.
